15 August 2008- WAG wastes £7.5 mill education spending
Shocking new figures uncovered by the Welsh Liberal Democrat’s have revealed that over £7.5mill is being lost on training secondary school teachers who do not go into teaching posts within Wales.

Welsh Lib Dem Spokesperson for Health Jenny Randerson AM has welcomed the release of a survey of young smokers by Action on Smoking and Health (ASH) Wales showing the true extent of underage tobacco sales in South Wales.
13 August 2008- WAG off track on railway investment
The Ebbw Vale rail link botch-up is a symptom of the One Wales Government’s refusal to invest in sustainable transport and a warning of what is to come Kirsty Williams AM has cautioned. The new train line has carried 44,000 passengers a month in its first 6 months, which has not only doubled the forecast of 22,000, but has also even obliterated the 2012 target of 33,000 passengers. Concerns have been raised that due to inaccurate passenger forecasts the scheme had under-investment and opportunities for expansion were missed.
13 August 2008- South Wales & borders business confidence falls by 35%
Business confidence in South Wales and the Welsh borders has fallen by 35% since January according to the Lloyds TSB Business survey. The region has a confidence rating of –10%, which is 2% below the national average and compares to the +25% that it was in January.
13 August 2008- Health Stats show that Wales is not well - Randerson
Reacting to the release of compiled Welsh Health Statistics, Welsh Lib Dem Spokesperson for Health, Jenny Randerson AM, has warned that "Wales is not well."
11 August 2008- Counting nurses can’t be that hard – Randerson
Welsh Lib Dem Spokesperson for Health, Jenny Randerson AM, has called on the Minister for Health to ensure that the Assembly Government keeps a record of the number of practice nurses in Wales. Currently, there is no mechanism to keep track of the number of practice nurses employed despite the obvious benefits for workforce planning and general service provision of such a mechanism.
31 July 2008- Rhodri is ducking the issue on referendum
First Minister Rhodri Morgan has had no discussions about the timing of a referendum on extending the powers of the Assembly in the last 12 months – Welsh Liberal Democrats have revealed.
18 July 2008- Campaign for Welsh in Europe must move on to Commission
Commenting on the news that Welsh will be used in can be used in dealings with the Council of Ministers and the Committee of the Regions, Welsh Lib Dem lead European candidate Alan Butt Philip, has urged campaigners not to give up their work.
18 July 2008- Report confirms Foundation Phase fiasco
The Assembly’s Finance Committee has today added its voice to the widespread concern over the Assembly Government’s inadequate Foundation Phase funding. The report highlights concerns about the "systemic failure" to transfer relevant funding information between Local Authorities and the Welsh Assembly Government; issues of staffing costs and recruitment and the effective allocation of funds.
