Survey responses

Many thanks to everyone who participated in our membership survey from the last newsletter. The highlights of the feedback are presented here. If you did not send the survey back but would like to share your views, please contact the office or log on to the discussion forums at www.ldcf.net.
The future of LDCF
Overall, respondents liked the things we are already aiming to do - Contacting council leaders about LDCF, circulating prayer points, linking in with other organisations more and starting a discussion forum (web or email based). People were especially keen on the need for LDCF to have a prayer role and for the new discussion forums. Other suggestions included more opportunities to meet up with fellow LDCF members outside of Party conference and something more for younger people.

A concern was expressed that LDCF is too ‘right-wing’ and thereby excludes ‘liberal’ Christians, particularly Quakers and Unitarians. The executive committee certainly does not wish to make LDCF exclusive, but to include as broad a church as possible. If you have ideas as to how we can make LDCF more appealing to Christians who currently feel excluded by it, please get in touch and help us to redress any imbalance.

Conference stand
Most of those members who filled in the survey and attend conference, also visit our stand, whether for a chat or to see what’s on. Opinion was split quite equally as to whether we should have a theme for the stand or minimalist decor, but there were lots of interesting suggestions as to what we could do - from live music to tea and coffee! The executive will certainly look into what is feasible to trial at upcoming conferences.

Conference fringe meetings and Morning Praise
Over half of the surveyed members who attend conference come to our fringe meetings, and time was the most important deciding factor. Conversely, only a third of the surveyed conference goers attend Morning Praise. Again time was the main factor, with several people noting that Morning Praise clashes with breakfast.

Many thanks to everyone who responded.
