From the editor
This edition of Christian Focus looks at the theme of stewardship. The online encyclopedia “Wikipedia” defines stewardship as “a sense of personal responsibility for taking care of something that is not one's own”.
As Christians we believe that we have a responsibility in maintaining and using wisely the gifts that God has bestowed, including taking care of our environment, spending our money well and caring for one another.
To reflect these concerns, this issue features details of Christian Aid’s campaign against climate change; Julia Goldsworthy MP explaining the significance of the Sustainable Communities Bill which would give local people a greater say in keeping their communities vibrant and viable; and Matt Bird investigating how sponsorship through the charity Compassion can transform the lives of children in the developing world.
Also Martin Turner talks about the theology of handling our money, and Tom Paul and Vicki Adamson remind us of the significant overlap between Christian and Liberal Democrat principles.
We hope that this issue will be thought-provoking and informative and, as always, we value your feedback.
