The Autumn 2007 magazine is available here.
From the editor
Our special focus this issue is 'prayer and politics'. As Christians
involved in politics, we sometimes get so caught up in the practical
expression of our faith through our political involvement (see last two
issues of the magazine), that we can forget that all our activity
should be underpinned by prayer.
In his letters, Paul exhorts us to "pray continually", and to "pray in
the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests".
In this edition we look at some ways that Christians are praying into
politics, within the UK's Parliamentary institutions, and at the annual
Westminster National Prayer Breakfast, as well as through constituency
prayer groups that have been set up to pray for individual MPs. We look
at why God asks us to pray for our world, and offer some suggestions as
to how we might go about this.
We also report on the events being run by LDCF at the Brighton
conference, where the theme running through our sessions is 'poverty'.
We are also launching a new project looking at the meaning of the term
'liberalism' in political and theological contexts, and the particular
challenges this brings us as Christian Liberal Democrats.
